Testimonials

We value the feedback of those we serve and work with. See what past volunteers and participants had to say about the work they have done with That Next Level:

I was happy to be able to keep the majority of the class engaged and also participate in the activities. In a community where financial education is not often taught at a young age, programs like these are essential to awareness and at least starting the thought process early on. It was a great experience and I wish success to all that attended.

It was my pleasure and honor to participate as a volunteer to teach JA at Cody High for 7 weeks. As a recent retiree, I promised myself that I would devote my time in helping to make a difference in my community. TNL allowed me the opportunity to share my many experiences with Cody students that may not have the resources or exposure to programs like JA. TNL recognized the need to bring JA to Cody and to hopefully inspire a student to consider becoming an entrepreneur. The response from the Cody Students was overwhelmingly positive. They listened, they were engaged, and excited that we were sincerely interested in their future. Thanks to Cody HS and TNL for allowing me to participate in the JA program.

As a Detroit Public Schools alumnus (as I attended all grades K-12), it was my pleasure to give back to kids that are growing up in the exact same city that I grew up in, Detroit, MI. Although it was no surprise that the students at Cody High School were very smart and already had some knowledge of personal finance, it was good to know that the JA curriculum opened their eyes to even more. As each week of the six-week curriculum progressed, I could see the level of interest growing amongst the students in the class. When real-life scenarios were used as examples, it brought home the “personal finance” lessons to a level that was easy to understand. Although a lot of business/finance terminology was learned, we still had a lot of fun and lively discussions along the way. The teacher and school staff were all also very helpful. I enjoyed it all!
