BASICS International

Founded in 2000, by Patricia Wilkins, Brothers and Sisters in Christ Serving (BASICS) International is a nonprofit 501c3 NGO located in the fishing village of Chorkor, one of the poorest communities in Accra, Ghana. Dedicated to “ending cycles of illiteracy, poverty, hunger, and child labor in Ghana permanently”, BASICS has formed several projects to support its efforts, including a safe haven for at-risk teenage girls, breakfast for students, basic hygiene distribution, after school programs, private school tuition and much more. TNL provides funding to BASICS’ Back2School Sponsorship Program, allowing 2 students in Accra to attend a private school, full time, preventing a life of child labor and systemic poverty.

TNL board members, Kim and Shawn Stafford, began this relationship with BASICS beginning in 2011 on a trip to Ghana. Recognizing the significant work of Ms. Wilkins, Kim and Shawn made BASICS a part of their annual giving. The donations will continue through the TNL foundation as part of its mission to uplift those less fortunate to achieve financial independence.
